Inspiration

One of my coachees talked with me recently about inspiration. He and I got into an interesting conversation where we tried to characterize inspiration. Here is where we got to - (1) Inspiration elevates thought (2) Inspiration deepens feeling (3) Inspiration forwards action. This insight leads to me to believe that inspiration has an intellectual function, an emotive function, and an action-generating function.

Inspiration - the word shares etymological roots with "spirit". So, in essence to inspire would be to generate spirit - and isn't that ultimately what leadership is about ?

Beauty, unaccompanied by virtue, is as a flower without perfume...................................................

I think inspiration gives birth to passion and passion leads to experimentation - leads to conviction and then to action.
